Discovering Wildflower Island at Teatown Lake Reservation
Description: Wildflower Island is a unique, two acre refuge within the greater Teatown Lake Reservation preserve that is home to over 230 native and endangered species of wildflowers. Wildflower Island, which is an actual island within Teatown Lake, is “managed” only to the extent that invasive alien plants are removed and certain native competitive species are not encouraged. Guided tours are given during the months of April through September as follows:
April: Saturday and Sunday, 2:00pm
Admission is with guided tour only. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Teatown at (914) 762-2912, ext. 110. Private tours on weekdays can be arranged for groups of six or more.
Sunday, May 23, 10:00am - 2:00pm
In conjunction with National Garden Conservancy’s Open Days Program, Wildflower Island will be open to the public with no reservations required for on-going tours for ages 12+. Special rate: Teatown members free; Non-Members $5.
